iOS 4 bug plagues native Calendar app

The latest edition of Apple's iOS operating system which was released last month has come under more scrutiny with a bug plaguing the list view of the native Calendar application.

Apple's native Calendar application, which hasn't seen a major upgrade for some time (aside from some cosmetic changes), is installed by default on all devices running their iOS operating system including the iPhone and iPod touch, meaning any bug will likely affect many of the millions of iOS users.

Admittedly the bug, first reported by iTWire, is not a huge issue for users, but has seen many iPhone and iPod touch owners hit the Apple forums looking for answers to the issue that leaves the list view of upcoming events in Apple's Calendar application muddled up and displayed out of order. The bug appears to have debuted in version 4.0 of the iOS, and remains evident in the latest update, 4.0.1. Apple has yet to comment on the problem, but it some iOS users desperate for a fix have discovered a couple of ways in which the bug can be remedied.

It seems disabling the default "birthdays" calendar or archiving calendar entries older than 6 months fixes the issue for most -- aside for those using Microsoft Exchange calendars, who are still struggling to discover the cause of the flaw-- although it's a bit of a hit or miss at the moment.
