Μετά από μια έντονη φημολογία που είχε ξεκινήσει από το 2002, φήμες που κάθε λίγο άλλαζαν τα χαρακτηριστικά του και την τελική ημερομηνία διάθεσής του, τελικά σήμερα η Apple ανακοίνωσε δια στόματος Steve Jobs , το νέο της δημιούργημα, τον tablet υπολογιστή με την ονομασία iPad.
Πρόκειται για μια συσκευή με οθόνη 9,7 ιντσών, πάχος μισής μόλις ίντσας και αυτονομίας που σύμφωνα με τον Jobs θα φτάνει τις 10 ώρες. Θα διατεθεί έκδοση που θα υποστηρίζει μόνο Wi-Fi και έκδοση που θα υποστηρίζει Wi-Fi και 3G (Wi-Fi + 3G model).
